Houses and the Figures that go in Them
This is a test. This is two tests.
1. That a sufficiently dense collection of sculptures can be a building. That a house is not the thin shell of a container stretched taut over empty space, but a dense neighborhood of things. That as the importance space recedes against the advance of these things, a particular set of ideas will become increasingly important: the sociology between objects; stacking, trabeation; the end of the interior, the beginning of the perpetual exterior and the infinite façade.
2. That the human figure is being designed. That in the age of machine vision, computers see people where people have not been seen before. That the dreamy, psychedelic misidentification of figure – formerly the province of cloud watchers, dream analysts, and people who see a man in the moon – is now, having gained credibility through codification, a serious existential pressure on the semantics of being human. That the oozing plasticity of this definition must occasionally be firmed up, scooped together and presented back to the world: this is a figure now.
