Vincent Pocsik is constantly in motion, pivoting between evolving designer and progressive fabricator. His design goals are to further his interests in craftsmanship by discovering new ways traditional materials cab be manipulated to produce non-traditional effects. With conscientious control, he aims to implement the idea of the mistake into his design, thereby embracing the imperfect results in a world that has become obsessed with perfection. When working on a design, strong attention is placed on the production methods which continually produce idiosyncratic formal outcomes, this surpassing the designs’ expected formal qualities.
Vincent’s focus on small scale projects further his understanding of the affects of the limitations of materials. With this in mind, he is exploring the formal implications of paper and concrete at a small scale with his lighting series ‘MISTAKE IDEA LAMP MISTAKE.’In conjunction to these small scale design explorations, he is also working on a complete internal fit-out of an office space in downtown Los Angeles, which allows him analyze his interests on larger scale productions.
