About The Artist:
Grey Crowell born Auckland, New Zealand
Lives and works in Los Angeles, Ca.
Emerging artist Grey Crowell’s first exhibitions can be seen as exploring the intersection of immersive sculpture and
experiential installation. Always implementing a participatory aspect Crowell’s work welcomes and invites people to
interact through the installation itself and beyond. Whether through drawing as seen at the Architecture and Design
Museum, or through confetti play in her most recent installation at Jai and Jai Gallery.
Playing with themes of celebration itself Afterparty is a “happening” as well as an sculptural installation witha desire to
transform the gallery into a celebratory spectacle. The graphic piñata ceiling draws you inside the piñata itself where the
confetti filled floor invites one to toss upwards and experience the soft falling under the singular fluorescent light with
an imperceptible flicker. When exiting the confetti room an upwards-turned giant clam offers you a fortune cookie for
you to decide upon.
